Farmnivorous exists to make local shopping more convenient.
Our first priority is locally and sustainably produced food. We can do much more, though. We would love to create a marketplace for your craft fair, artist market, bake sale, etc. Whether it's a one-time event or a recurring thing, we are happy to support you. We can also create a marketplace for local retailers in a given neighborhood or shopping district. For neighborhoods with more than one marketplace listed on Farmnivorous, we will create a dedicated page such as this one for Northside.
Businesses can easily post products that are currently available for sale. Shoppers can browse and buy from all of the listed sellers in a given marketplace with a single checkout.
Pick-up and delivery options are flexible; If businesses decide to coordinate, delivery or curbside services can be managed for the market as a whole. Alternatively, sellers can set and manage their own pick-up or delivery offerings.
Farmnivorous is not a replacement for your business website. In fact, Farmnivorous includes a link to the seller's website or social media site on every product page. Businesses should think of Farmnivorous as a platform for reaching new customers and growing sales per customer.
The belief underlying Farmnivorous is that there is strength in numbers. Consumers shop at large grocery stores, malls, and mega online retailers because of the convenience that comes with easily finding lots of stuff in a single place. Small businesses get more foot traffic if they locate in shopping malls versus a free-standing store. Just as consumers go to a mall to browse lots of content in a single place, consumers can browse an entire neighborhood or shopping district with a marketplace on Farmnivorous.
What better excuse to come and see Northside, visit a shop or two, and maybe stay for dinner, than to pick up the order that we placed last night? Sometimes we want delivery, but a lot of the time we want an excuse to do something fun.
The Farmnivorous Marketplace application is very flexible.
We can easily create a marketplace for a group of sellers and list it on farmnivorous.com. The more sellers per marketplace, the more interesting it will be to shoppers and the more we will promote it.
A marketplace can be managed in a variety of different ways. It can collect orders for multiple businesses for pick up or delivery on a specific date. Delivery can be customized in terms of fees and delivery options such as day, time, zip code. A marketplace can also be set up as an evergreen market, in which sellers list and de-list their products when they please and manage their own pick up or delivery logistics for their products individually. Farmnivorous is flexible and eager to support creative entrepreneurial types.
It is very easy to get started. Tell us what marketplace you would like to join or tell us what you'd like to create. We can have a marketplace ready for you in as little as 1 to 2 days. You open a standard account with Stripe.com or connect your current one to Farmnivorous. We help you format your logo. You input your products easily. Soup to nuts, you can be up in as little as 3 days with no up-front cost.
There is no cost to create or join a Farmnivorous marketplace and list products. Farmnivorous will eventually charge a small commission on orders placed of 2-3%, but is waiving this through 2020 at least. Sellers pay their own credit card fees of 2.9% plus $0.30 per order.
Seller's receive their cash directly in their bank accounts by Stripe. Farmnivorous does not manage or have access to your money or banking info.
